Why would a football coach want to start a football playbook software company?

The simple answer is that Cal saw a need that was not being addressed by the electronic football playbook community. In March of 2004 El Camino High Schools' new Varsity Football Head Coach Trace Deneke (facing the daunting task of replacing a coaching legend - Coach Herb Meyer) asked Cal (the staff computer geek) to assist with two computer related projects:

1) Identify options for playbook animation for clinic presentations and team meetings
2) Assist El Camino's defensive coordinator with 'computerizing' the defensive football playbook

What Cal found was that, while there was playbook animation and football playbook design tools available, the reality was that those tools required computer skills that most football coaches don't poses - and certainly don't have the time to develop. So Cal set out to develop a tool that would allow coaches to easily draw football plays.
